Savetheinternet.com The FCC is now deciding whether to reassert its authority to protect broadband access from phone and cable company take-over! The telecom companies want to be able to block access to online information and prioritize their own content and services over their competitors'.
The FCC needs to "reclassify" broadband and protect the open Internet for good. Our online future rests on the FCC putting the public interest before phone and cable company profits.  FreePress.net

White Ginger and Platinum Bubblecuts
gingers3.jpg (83077 bytes)

1. 1961 White Ginger Bubblecuts:

In 1961 Mattel made a bubblecut that was named 'White Ginger' (hair color name on box as well).   This doll came on a hollow 'Barbie' body, with red fingernail polish. What is special about her is that while the other bubblecuts from this year (as well as the 1961 #5 Ponytails) have red lips, the white gingers have a bubblegum pink lip color.  But just like the other BarbiesŪ from 1961, white gingers have the thin faces, green-blue eyeliner, and deep turquoise eye-color (both very hard to see in digital photos!).

Most white gingers have hair that has oxidized to a blonde color over the years -- but the original hair color was very light. Hair lengths (the fullness of the bubblecut) varies greatly.

Below are perfect examples of  White Gingers. Notice the thin faces due to the small neck knob of the 'Barbie' body. Her eyeliner is green-blue (not powder blue) and her eyes are turquoise.

This White Ginger's hair (above)  has oxidized over time and is no longer as white as the doll's hair above.

2. 1963+ Platinum Bubblecuts:

Below are examples of the later, "Platinum' Bubblecut. Notice that the face is a bit fuller due to the large neck knob on the 'Midge/Barbie' body. The eyeliner is a powder blue (not green-blue) and the eyes are definitely blue (not turquoise). The platinum bubblecuts came with either pink or white lips (or the pink can oxidize to white over time).
