Salvaging a Ponytail After a Previous Re-root and Face Re-paint!
1. BEFORE and AFTER - On the left is how she looked when she first arrived. On the right how she looked after my restoration! Please read on below for more info and photos.
,,,It was heartbreaking to see the damage that had been done to this doll! The hair was so thick and matted inside. One side of her head had sunk because the hair line had been damaged (and glued). Someone had inserted big plastic earrings that would have left huge holes had I removed them. The large lip paint had stained the vinyl.
2. BEFORE - When I cut off the previously re-rooted hair I was shocked to find that the first re-rooter had not bothered to remove any of the doll's original hair! S/he had simply re-rooted right over it. and in some areas had added random plugs below the original holes. Each plug of new hair was so large that it damaged the doll's vinyl!
3. BEFORE - There was SO much hair that it was very difficult to remove the rat's nest inside the head.
4. BEFORE - Below she is looking better already and is ready for her new hair and paint. Unfortunately nothing could be done about the random new holes that had been added by the previous re-rooter. I had to re-root them.
5. BEFORE - New, soft hair that is re-rooted correctly with the proper amount and texture
1. AFTER - New face paint and new hair! I did the best I could to repair the previously done damage. Again note the random plugs that had been added by the previous re-rooter:
