Savetheinternet.com The FCC is now deciding whether to reassert its authority to protect broadband access from phone and cable company take-over! The telecom companies want to be able to block access to online information and prioritize their own content and services over their competitors'.
The FCC needs to "reclassify" broadband and protect the open Internet for good. Our online future rests on the FCC putting the public interest before phone and cable company profits.  FreePress.net

  Fashion Queen and Miss Barbie

Fashion Queen® and Miss Barbie®

Fashion Queen 1963/64 - 67

A lovely Fashion Queen with original face paint. I have touched up her painted head and added a (repro) blue ribbon headband, slight blush and 'pearl' earrings

Fashion Queen Barbie (on the left) was sold either as a head only along with a 3 wig set and wig stand (1964 67), or as a doll on a straight leg 1963/64 'Midge-Barbie' body. The doll wore a white and gold swimsuit with matching turban and came with the 3 wigs and wig stand. The 'FQ' came with a blue vinyl headband. Some more unusual FQs can be found with gorgeous high color face paint (including a lovely geranium lip color)! Normally, they are found with pinkish coral, coral or even white lips (below).  The wigs should never be stored on either the doll or the wig stand as the two plastics together will 'melt' and cause damage.

The Fashion Queen is both plentiful and versatile. None of them seem to look alike! This is a doll you can easily collect and have fun displaying due to the relatively inexpensive price tag.

Markings (1963 and 1964): Midge T.M./ ©1962/ Barbie®/©1958/by/ Mattel, Inc. (added 'patented' to 1964 body)

A Fashion Queen in her original box with wig set and gold lame' swimsuit and turban
1964 - 1967 - The Fashion Queen head (only) was sold with the wig stand and 3 wigs in the 'Wig Wardrobe' set

Fashion Queens have also been found with the 'high color' face paint and blush. I have also seen Fashion Queens with unusual white lip paint. lip colors can range from white to very pale peach to pink, coral and high color raspberry like the doll above.

White lips, pink lips and coral lips!  Collect them all!

Miss Barbie 1964 (made in USA)

Photos showing how the Miss Barbie doll was originally sold.

1964 - Miss Barbie® was the first doll with bendable legs and the only vintage Barbie® with 'sleep eyes.'  Interestingly, her bendable leg body was made in the USA.

The neck/torso is very specific to this doll.  A small 0-ring attaches to the neck to keep the head securely on the body.  Therefore the Miss Barbie head needs to be on the correct  Miss Barbie body.

Often the small 0-ring on this doll is missing or corroded after all of these years.  I am able to repair/replace this for you so her head stays in place on the neck.

Miss Barbie originally was sold with the swimsuit and hat you see above, as well as a 3-wig set, white plastic wig stand, gold wire doll stand and other accessories (including the stripe swing set you see in the background above).

Markings (embossed): ©1958/Mattel, Inc./U.S. Patented/U.S. Pat. Pend.
On back of head: ©M.I.

"USA" is generally found on the bottoms of both feet (though sometimes this marking is rubbed off over time during play).

This doll frightened children so it did not originally sell well.

Before:  This is how the doll arrived. Notice the eye mechanism that fits inside the two head pieces

After: Eyes back in place, new 0-ring to secure the head to the body, and touch ups to painted head, brows, and lips
